Vaalu's Thillalangadi

Dec 21, 2014 | Behindwoods

No, STR starrer Vaalu doesn’t have anything to do with Jayam Ravi starrer Thillalangadi. We hear that the Vaalu team has tried out a different technique during the shoot. STR’s house that will be seen in the film is actually three different houses. Since, STR’s father in the film works as a railway employee, the backside of the house was shot in a house in Pachyappas College campus, near the railway station. The living room sequences were shot in Aachi house, T Nagar and the rest were shot in a house in Royapettah.

All the shots were then matched to project the sequences as if they were shot in a single house. The makers are very happy with the outcome. We also hear that Hansika, the film’s female lead was hit by surprise, when she couldn’t distinguish between the shots taken in the three different houses.

Vanmam: So indifferently made, it’s shocking

Dec 19, 2014 | The Hindu

After watching Soodhu Kavvum, I wrote, Vijay Sethupathi, the poster boy of this cinema, was welcomed in his first scene with cheers and claps usually reserved for mass heroes making their entry. Its the sweetest sound Ive heard in years. But then, those are just A-centre cheers and claps, and if we know anything about our heroes, its that they like the rest of the alphabet too.

The B-centres. The C-centres. And as you cannot lure those audiences with films like Soodhu Kavvum, you clamber on board an MRTS (Mass Route To Success) vehicle and head to the sickle-wielding hinterlands. It isnt surprising – just a little sad.

I was under Immense Pressure while Composing

Dec 17, 2014 | New Indian Express

Vai Raja Vai is said to be a comeback movie for Yuvan in the Tamil film industry. Yuvan, who made his debut in Bollywood recently, addressed a vibrant crowd at the audio launch of Vai Raja Vai on Wednesday, saying, I am extremely happy being part of the film. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Aishwarya at this point in time. It was a wonderful experience working with her. However, I must admit that I was under immense pressure while composing the music for the film, given the fact that Aishwarya had reposed a lot of faith in me.

Yuvan added, Pacha vanna poove, the first song in the movie came out really well, and thats when I realised that it was not just that song, but all the songs are going to be a great success.

Aishwarya said that she had spoken about the project and asked Yuvan to compose for the film, over an informal discussion. And believe me, even before listening to the script, he readily agreed to work! she said.

Vai Raja Vai trailer: Dhanush steals the thunder from Gautham Karthik

Dec 17, 2014 | Bollywood Life

When ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam introduced the son of yesteryear actor Karthik, Gautham Karthik, the whole industry was excited to see the newbie following his fathers footsteps and people had predicted great things for him. But alas, with the bombing of his debut flick Kadal at box office, all the claims of Gautham Karthik being the next big thing in Kollywood came crashing down.

His second film Yennamo Yedho sank without a trace. But the undeterred youngster is back yet again with his third flick Vai Raja Vai starring Priya Anand, Vivekh and Taapsee Pannu. The trailer of the flick based on casinos and gambling is out. Here is what I thought about the trailer:

The trailer hints that the film is about a youth who is brilliant with numbers, who gets caught in the web of gambling and the baddies want to utilise his strength in winning big money at a casino. While any gambling flick quickly reminds of popular Hollywood flick on blackjack, 21, Vai Raja Vai doesnt seem like a copy of it.
